Three Keystone workers shot, one dead

Imphal, May 18 2024:
Unidentified armed men shot dead one worker of Keystone Infra Company Limited and left two others injured.
The incident took place at Takyel Khongbal Lane No 5 under Lamphel Police Station at around 7.30pm on Saturday.
The deceased worker has been identified as Sri Ram Hansada (42) of Jharkhand, while the two injured as Bitu Murmu (24) and Mitlal Soren, both from Jharkhand as well.
All three of them were engaged for the Imphal-Kangchup Road Sewage project and have been staying at a Khola (makeshift tent) in Naoremthong.
According to reports culled from the spot, on receiving news that some non-Manipuri workers staying in a Khola at Naoremthong Khullem Leikai road, were shot by unidentified armed men near Takyel Khongbal Lane No 5, the nearby locals came to check and found two people lying on the ground, one of whom was already dead.
Another injured was being taken away in a vehicle, apparently to RIMS hospital.
On receiving news of the incident, a team of Lamphel PS arrived at the scene and took the remaining injured to RIMS hospital.
Shortly after, Imphal West District Police SP, DIG Range-I and IGP Zone-I also arrived and took stock of the situation.
A team of Forensics has also examined the crime scene, after which the dead body was taken to RIMS morgue for post mortem examination.
Lamphel PS has registered a case in this regard and a search carried out in surrounding area of the incident site.
However, no arrests have been reported.
