Thoubal, November 17 2024:
A sit-in demonstration was staged at Babu Bazar, here, on Sunday, demanding judicial enquiry into the abduction and brutal killing of six Meeteis, including three children, by armed Kuki militants.
The protesters also called for legal action against those involved in heinous crime.
During the sit-in organised by Meitei Joint Coordinating Committee, Waithou to Thoubal Khunou, protestors used placards demanding judicial enquiry into the killing of 6 innocent Meetei, immediate repeal of AFSPA, restoring Manipur's pre-merger status, resignation of MLAs and ministers, condemning assault of women and children, etc.
Speaking on the sidelines, one Mutum Ibenungshi expressed shock over killing of six women and children in Jiribam after abduction in a village having heavy deployment of both central and state forces.
Ibenungshi also recounted out that Prime Minister Modi broke his silence on the Manipur crisis when two women were paraded naked, called for judicial inquiry and punishment of those involved in the crime.
However, she lamented that the Prime Minister had not spoken a word on the latest gruesome killing of the six Meetei individuals after abduction, which she called both tragic and unacceptable.
