Anti-AFSPA crusader Chittaranjan remembered

Bishnupur/Jiribam, August 16 2024: Commemorating the sacrifice made by anti-AFSPA crusader 'Athouba' Pebam Chittaranjan, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) observed the 20th Students' Martyrdom Day at Kiyamba Ningshing Shan-glen in Bishnupur district on Friday.

The observance was attended by Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur president Soraisham Memcha, AMUCO president Ph Nando Luwang, COHR chairman Phulindro Kons-am, AMAWOVA president Y Kunjarani and MSF president Hijam Roshan as presidium members.

Those gathered also paid floral tributes to statue and photo of Chittaranjan placed at the site of his self-immolation.

Speaking on the occasion, Roshan reminded that Athouba Pebam Chittaranjan made the supreme sacrifice through self-immolation as a protest against the black law 'AFSPA' imposed by the government of India.

He also called upon the gathering to collectively fight devilish intentions and acts of the government and to end the ongoing ethnic conflict as well.

Later, members of MSF lit candles in front of Kangla western gate, Imphal in the evening as a mark of respect to Athouba Pebam Chittaranjan.

MSF Jiribam District Committee also observed the 20th Students' Martyrdom Day at Babupara in Jiribam district.

The observance was attended by members of different student bodies, meira paibi Lups and CSOs who paid floral tributes the photo of Pebam Chittaranjan.
