Hailstorm affected seek speedy relief aid

Thoubal, May 15 2024: Referring to the announcement made by the government for providing relief package to families affected by the May 5 hailstorm and thunderstorm, Thoubal denizens affected by the natural disaster appealed to the government to expedite process for provision of relief.

One Oinam Thoibi of Wangjing pointed out that after the outbreak of Corona virus pandemic, the recent hailstorm that swept across the state amidst the on-going ethnic conflict, is causing immense hardships to people of Wangjing, Lamding, Uyal Wangbal and Khangabok.

Regardless of reports about sanctioning relief fund amounting Rs 6.9 crore, many of the affected people are yet to receive the compensation amount nor any relief materials, she lamented, while urging authorities concerned to look into the matter and ensure relief aid to them at t he earliest possible.
