Kwatha villagers protest move to with BSF

Villagers of Kwatha village under Tengnoupal district on Monday staged protest against the government's decision for withdrawal of Border Security Forces (BSF) from the border village.
In this regard, Kwatha Village Authority general secretary Takhellambam Sanjoy said that the presence of BSF Company in the village, which is located at a distance of 7 km from Kwatha Lamkhai along the NH-102 under Moreh sub-division has been ensuring peace and safety of the villagers which includes various communities till date.
If the BSF is to be withdrawn from the area, then another security force should be deployed beforehand, he stressed, while urging central and state governments to do the needful at the earliest.
During the sit-in, the protestors which consisted of Kwatha Meira Paibi, Kwatha Village authority and club members, held placards inscribed with slogans like "BSF for peace", We Want peace", "Don't recall BSF from Kwatha", and "Save our Village" .
It may be mentioned here that while there is a move to withdraw BSF from the area, Assam Rifles and state forces will continue to remain in the area.
