Govt cremates Khundrakpam Anandi's body

Imphal, September 12 2024: Following an order by Imphal-West district magistrate, the lifeless body of Khundrakpam Anandi was cremated at the government crematorium, Minuthong on Thursday.

Anandi w/o Laishram Bijoy of Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai was found dead hanging in the bathroom of her husband's home on September 2 .

She was immediately rushed to Asian Hospital but declared brought dead.

As such, the womenfolk of Heinoupok, which is Anandi's parental home, formed a JAC in connection with the unnatural death and staged protests, including forming human chain near Imphal West DC Complex, urging for handing over the body to her parental family instead.

On Thursday, Imphal West district magistrate held talks with both Sides, following which an order was issued to cremate Anandi's body at the Minuthong crematoriurti, which was complied with.
