Mushroom unit inaugurated at KVK, Thoubal

Thoubal, July 09 2025: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Thoubal, under its project 'Establishment of Mushroom Spawn Production Unit at KVK, Thoubal for quality spawn supply to SHGs through FPCs as outlet Points', inaugurated a Mushroom Spawn Production Unit at its office complex on Wednesday.

The inauguration programme of the project sponsored by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) was attended by Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation director K Devadutta Sharma, KVK, Thoubal head and senior scientist Dr Jeshmarani Sarangthem, NABARD, Imphal general manager (GM) Partha Mandal, Manipur Rural Bank chairman Abhay Kumar, Rice Research Station, Wangbal breeder L Shantikiran Devi and Thoubal district agriculture officer (DAO) Th Joyprakash as presidium members.

As part of the programme, the dignitaries inaugurated the Mushroom Spawn Production Unit, inspected stalls showcasing various produces of farmer producer organisation (FPO) under KVK, Thoubal, released the yearly newsletter of KVK, Thoubal and distributed sprayers to select farmer producer companies (FPC) .

In his address, K Devadutta commended NABARD for facilitating establishment of the mushroom spawn facility at KVK, Thoubal.

Stating that FPCs/FPOs in other states are operating successfully, he said local FPCs/FPOs will make significant progress if the farmers collaborate and adopt latest scientific methods instead of toiling individually.
