Kulendra JAC not to claim body till demand honoured

Along with forming a JAC in connection with the killing of Y Kulendra of Ningthem Khunou in Jiribam on Saturday by armed Kuki militants, the JAC has decided not to claim the body until their demands are met.
A meeting was held to condemn the killing of Y Kulendra, with participation of various CSOs, meira paibi groups, and clubs of Jiribam where resolutions were passed to form a Joint Action Committee (JAC) to address the brutal killing of Y Kulendra, among others.
Speaking to reporters, JAC convener M Bhupen condemned alleged irresponsible and negligent attitude of the security forces and explained the meeting unanimously resolved to pressure the government to arrest those responsible for the killing of Kulendra and ensure they receive appropriate punishment within five days.
The resolution also called for suitable compensation or ex-gratia to the family of Kulendra before conduct of the final rites.
He also said that the government should recover the Rs 10 lakh looted by the Kuki narco-terrorists and Rs 3 lakh worth of gold ornaments.
A memorandum outlining these resolutions will be submitted to the chief minister through the Jiribam DC.
The JAC Will not claim Kulendra's body until their demands are met and is prepared to launch various forms of agitation in collaboration with other CSOs, he affirmed.
Meanwhile, the post-mortem examination of Kulendra's body was conducted at Silchar Medical College, and brought back and deposited at Jiribam Hospital mortuary.
