DC inspects PMGSY road, schools in Tamenglong

In a proactive move to ensure quality of infrastructure and education in the district, Tamenglong DC Dr Angshim L Dangshawa led an inspection team to assess the construction of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) road and various schools on Tuesday.
The team also included Sub-Deputy Collector (SDC) Savio Daimai, Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) N Abonpou Christopher, DRDA assistant engineer Gainilung Gonmei and PA to DC Eleazer Kaongam.
During inspection of the 17 km stretch of the PMGSY road between Kahulong and Bamgaijang village, Dr Angshim expressed concern over the contractor's failure to adhere to quality standards and warned the subcontractor, stressing the importance of conforming to prescribed quality norms in road construction.

However, he commended the effective execution of drainage system along the road.
The team then proceeded to Bamgaijang primary school, where Dr Angshim interacted with the teachers.
Upon finding irregularities of some teachers, he summoned all the teachers posted at the school for clarification, advised the teachers to recognise the potentials of students, and exhorted them to believe that young learners could achieve greatness in future.
On their return journey, the inspection team visited Akhui Government High School, which currently has 130 students and 12 teaching staff.
The DC lauded the school as one of the best at the village level and assured that a urinal facility would be constructed to improve the school's infrastructure.
Later, the team inspected Kahulong Primary School where they noted that many classes were being conducted by substitute teachers.
Dr Angshim then directed all the teachers to strictly adhere to the guidelines for the Mid-Day Meal Scheme so as to ensure that the students receive proper nutrition.
As part of his commitment to enhance educational landscape in the district, Dr Angshim announced plans for surprise visits at government schools in near future.
