Rally staged against assault on woman

Imphal, March 04 2022:
Condemning the poll related incident that took place in Singjamei A/C, where sister of Congress candidate J Hemochandra was assaulted, people of Singjamei took out a peaceful rally in the constituency on Friday.
Large number of people began marching from Singjamei parking and headed towards Yumnam Leikai passing through Singjamei traffic point.
The protestors then came back to Singjamei and ended the rally at Ibudhou Luwangpokpa ground.
Speaking to media persons, one Laishram ongbi Bimola pointed out that the constituency had never faced such poll-related incidents in the past.
It was previously believed that the election might be peaceful, but the occurrence of such unwanted incidents in the constituency is unfortunate, she condemned.
Recalling the pre-poll violence which occurred in the constituency injuring many people, Bimola said that several unwanted incidents also took place in several polling stations of the constituency on the polling day.
The rally was organised condemning the physical assault on the sister of INC candidate Irengbam Hemochandra on the day of first phase election at 13-1 Chingamakha polling station, she denounced.
