Van Mahotsava observed, trees planted

The 75th Van Mahotsava observance at Waikhong, organised by the Range Forest Office, Kakching under Thoubal Forest Division, included tree planting across various locations.
Divisional Forest Officer, Thoubal Dr Leishangthem Jeeceelee, Range Forest Officer, Kakching Laishram Dinesh, Beat Officer, Waikhong Naorem Brojen, Chief Minister's Green Manipur Mission former Green Ambassador Valentina Elangbam and members of local clubs and meira paibi groups participated in the event.
They planted trees on top Hayelpokpi Hill range within Waikhong Pine Reserved Forest and in the playground of Waikhong High School.
Additionally, tree saplings were distributed to attendees.
During the event, Dr Jeeceelee highlighted the annual tradition of Van Mahotsava, typically held nationwide in the first week of July.
Emphasising the importance of planting more trees to mitigate floods and droughts, the officer mentioned that the Thoubal Forest Division provides trees free of cost to the public as part of this observance.
She urged clubs, meira paibi groups, schools and colleges to collect the saplings from the Thoubal Forest Division and plant them widely.
