Dengue prevention measures, helpline announced

Imphal, July 02 2025: State's Health Directorate has issued various memorandums detailing precautionary measures against dengue including identifying sample collection centres, designating dengue helpline numbers in each district and carrying out source reduction activities.

On June 30, the Directorate issued a memorandum declaring various health facilities in Imphal West and Imphal East districts as sample collection centres to facilitate people suffering from dengue fever in urban areas of the two districts avail the dengue confirmatory test in JNIMS (VRDL) with ease.

The health facilities in Imphal West identified as sample collection centres included Sagolband UPHC at Kwakeithel Hourakchanbi, Iroisemba UPHC at Iroisemba Mayai Leikai, Langol Tarung UPHC; Kwakeithel UPHC, Uripok Haobam Dewan Leikai, near Kalibari Mandir in Thangal Bazar, Haobam Marak Kangjam Leikai, Sana Janmasthan Club at Keishamthong Moirang Ningthou Leirak and at Urban - Ayushman Arogya Mandir and Takhellambam Leikai.

In Imphal East, the sample collection centres include UPHC at Kshetri Mayai Leikai (near ABA Ground); Mantripukhri UPHC at Lamlongei; Singjamei UPHC at Chin gamakhong; Minuthong UPHC near Tiny Tots' School, and at Sangaipat UPHC.

Centres have also been opened at Hatta Golapati, Soibam Leikai Meri Leirak and at Urban - Ayushman Arogya Mandir opposite Panthoibi Handloom, Palace Compound.

The medical officers and the in-charges concerned will collect the blood samples from suspected dengue cases for testing at JNIMS (VRDL) .

Another memorandum issued by the director of Health Services on June 30, as part of the precautionary measures, instructed the staff of UPHC and Sub-centres to immediately carry out source reduction activities such as 'dengue drying day' once a week.

Meanwhile, another memorandum issued on July 1 informed that each district will have a staff to provide information about dengue to the public.

It encouraged the public to avail information regarding dengue through various helpline numbers.
