48-hr general strike called in Thoubal

Thoubal, July 02 2024: The JAC formed-against the killing of KIM Educational Society, Khangabok founder Th Ibomcha has called a 48-hr general strike from 6 am of July 3.Demanding justice for Ibomcha, the JAC along with different clubs and organisations and meira paibi groups of Khangabok organised a sit-in demonstration at Khangabok New Market along with holding a public meeting where a number of resolutions were also adopted, on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines, JAC co-convener Khundrakpam Nabachandra informed that the meeting adopted a num ber of resolutions including clarification from the armed group involved, if any, in the killing of Ibomcha, going ahead with the general strike in Thoubal area to denounce state government's failure to the three-day deadline set by the JAC to probe the killing, meet representatives of the armed group if latter fails to honour the JAC's demands and not to claim the body of Ibomcha till clarity on the murder case.

It may be mentioned that Th Ibomcha was abducted on June 18 and his body discovered on June 29 in an area at Leishang Hiden in Lilong Chajing.
