Imphal, October 31 2024:
Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), led by Ibungo Ngangom, has categorically denied any involvement in the recent assault on two Naga civilians, while expressing strong condemnation against the allegations levelled by Arambai Tenggol (AT) Unit 18.According to statement issued by KCP Politburo Standing Committee, the claim by AT Unit 18 falsely implicated KCP (Ibungo Ngangom) in Wednesday's attack.
KCP maintained that collected reports and witness statements placed full responsibility for the incident on members of AT Unit 18 and urged AT to accept accountability.
The statement reflected on letter of condemnation jointly issued by NPO, SDSA and SOWA that specifically attributed the assault to AT Unit 18, corroborating with testimonies of the two, who survived the assault, identifying AT members as their assailants.
In the statement, KCP also referenced an established Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the GPRN, outlining a Special Operating Procedure that mandates consultation with GPRN officials before taking action involving members of the Naga community and vice-versa.
The statement asserted that KCP strictly adheres to the said MoU, emphasising its duty to communicate with GPRN in matters concerning Naga people, which KCP argued negates any implication of involvement in the attack.
Additionally, KCP appealed to the public of Kangleipak, affirming the party's commitment to supporting and protecting indigenous community within the state.
KCP expressed solidarity with the Naga community in their pursuit of justice and urged all to prioritise accounts from the victims themselves for an accurate understanding of the incident.
The statement, further cautioned against using KCP's name as a convenient scapegoat, and urged other groups to refrain from misrepresenting KCP's position.
In conclusion, KCP reiterated its mission to uphold peaceful coexistence among the communities, while warning that any misattribution of its name for shielding misconduct would not be tolerated.
