Imphal, October 29 2025:
Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykisan has stated that experts or panellists on debate or discussion programmes aired on local TV channels should refrain from uttering words that could hurt the sentiments of any community or harm the unity of Manipur.
He made the statement during an inauguration programme of a crematorium ground at Khoyathong in Thangmeiband Constituency today.
Addressing the function, Joykisan continued that holding discussions or debates on important issues is beneficial, but they must be constructive.
He said that raising baseless arguments to portray red as yellow, however, is silly.
Experts must share constructive ideas to bring about positive change, the MLA said and reiterated that words must be used in a manner that does not hurt the sentiments of any community.
Joykisan also said that leaders or experts must graciously accept when their ideas or concepts are proven wrong during discussions instead of raising silly arguments.
What Manipur needs now is to build integrity among the people and work towards peace, the MLA said, adding that people should refrain from any actions that could disrupt the peace process.
He appealed to all people to refrain from using provocative words that could hurt the sentiments of any community during debate or discussion programmes on TV channels.
General Secretary of Khoyathong Semgat Sagat Marup L Chittaranjan, on the other hand, said that the crematorium ground was established at a cost of Rs 26 lakh, of which Rs 20 lakh was donated by the Thangmeiband AC MLA and the remaining Rs 6 lakh was collected from families at Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai, Thangmeiband Polem Leikai, Thangmeiband Khoyathong Polem Leikai, Thangmeiband Kabrabam Leikai, DM University Colony, Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai, Nagamapal, and Phougaishangbam Leikai.
He also said that the different roads and other projects being taken up in Thangmeiband under the supervision of Joykisan is laudable.
