UNLF claims serial bomb blasts at Kwatha Khunou Lamkhai

Imphal, September 29 2012: The proscribed UNLF has claimed that the serial bomb blasts and firing attack at Kwatha Khunou Lamkhai which killed two AR personnel and injured five others was carried out by a fighting patrol team of MPA Mobile Battalion operating in Chandel district.

The 24th Assam Rifles, after forcibly opening a post at Kwatha village, have been harassing the villagers by checking and frisking the villagers every now and then.

The MPA's fighting team deliberately attacked the AR troops for harassing and intimidating the villagers, said a press release issued by the outfit's senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba.

The multiple bomb attacks and firing attack gave a deadly blow to the Indian military.

For a few moments, the AR troops could not even retaliate.

At this moment, MPA cadres moved in to snatch weapons from the slain and injured AR personnel but they retreated swiftly on seeing casualty among civilians.

Reacting to the IG AR (S) PRO's condemnation which termed yesterday's attack as cowardly, the UNLF questioned if killing innocent people in fake encounters and slaughtering people in cold blood were bravery or direct confrontation.

Asking people not to let the Indian military stay in civilian areas, the outfit asserted that people should not let themselves be used as forced labour by the Indian military in clearing shrubs, thickets and bushy areas.

Deployment of military personnel in civilian areas is a deliberate ploy of the Indian Government to keep the people under a tense atmosphere.

Now the Indian military personnel are frightened out of their wits and are craving to go back to their homes.

Seeking public support and encouragement to UNLF/MPA for the legitimate war of liberation, the outfit conveyed grief and pain over the death of one civilian and injuries caused to two other villagers because of the bomb attack.

The unfortunate incident happened because the MPA cadres had already taken their positions as the Indian military personnel had arrived and as such, they (MPA cadres) could not see the approaching civilians, Yoiheiba clarified.
