Clarify or face boycott : Khangabok to all armed groups

Locals of Khangabok erupted in protest and blocked National Highway 102 (Imphal Moreh road) today after a group of armed miscreants placed a hand grenade at the residence of Dr Laishram Somen at Khangabok Awang Leikai last night.
Dr Somen is the proprietor of Sur Hospital located at Khangabok in Thoubal district.
Peeved over the threat, the locals blocked the National Highway 102 at Khangabok Bazar this morning and later staged a sit in protest.
The protesters resolved to boycott all armed groups at Khangabok if the people or group concerned don't clarify the motive behind the threat within 48 hours.

As per the family, well armed eight-nine individuals who came in a Maruti Gypsy barged into the house of Dr Somen last night at around 9 and asked for Dr Somen at gun point.
Apart from threatening, the armed miscreants also placed a hand grenade at the residence and took four mobile phones from the family members .
They said that the bomb was placed on a table inside the house.
It is reported that the bomb was safely picked up by a team of Thoubal police at around 9.45 pm.
Meanwhile, locals of Khangabok protested against the excesses of the armed miscreants who they said were in uniform by blocking NH-102 (Imphal-Moreh road) at Wangbal Khong-nang Makhong and Arong Bridge from around 10.30 am.
After blocking the road, the locals staged a sit-in protest at Khangabok Bazar from around 1.30 pm by blocking half of the road and took some resolutions.
Announcing the resolutions, Kh Jibon, advisor of Bangsibudon Youth Club, said that they have decided to boycott all armed groups at Khangabok if the groups or individuals responsible for last night's incident don't clarify their motive within 48 hours.
He said that they will consult with civil society organisations to take up further courses of actions if the ultimatum is not heeded.
The third resolution called for identification of who the blood brothers and enemies are, he said and appealed to all organisations in Manipur to help them in identifying the miscreants who threatened Dr Somen and his family.
Placards with inscriptions in Manipuri which roughly translate as "Stop intimidating innocent people", "Don't engage in excessive activities", and "Follow the code of revolutionaries" and "Intimidating women and chil- dren is not the ethics of revolutionaries" among others.
