Primrose Raikhan, Manipur's first lady IFS officer passes away

Imphal, June 26 2026:
Former Indian Ambassador to Portugal and first lady IFS officer from Manipur, Primrose Raikhan passed away on June 25 at Medanta Hospital, Gurugram.
Primrose Raikhan hailed from Talui village, Ukhrul, and she was the daughter of Late Mazachang Raikhan, a 1959 Indian Railway Service officer.
She was the sister of Christiansen Raikhan, the first woman IAS officer of Manipur (1978) and Late doctor Ngampam Raikhan (MD, AIIMS) .
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand and Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah condoled the demise of the former Ambassador.
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand said Primrose Raikhan was a distinguished daughter of Manipur and called her "as one of the trailblazers from the North East India" .
Condoling her demise, Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah Ram said "I am deeply saddened to learn the passing away of Ambassador Achon Primrose Raikhan Sharma, IFS (1976).She was one of the most outstanding Civil Servants and a very articulate person...
In her demise, we have lost an exceptionally articulate and gifted person and a tall leader.
I convey my deepest condolences to the bereaved family." During her career, Primrose Raikhan worked in Tokyo, Japan, Colombo, South Africa, London, Belgium, Italy, USA etc, said the MLA .
