Imphal, June 25 2025: The Congress criticising Union Home Minister's statement about reducing tension first to restore peace and form a Government later, shows their ignorance, MLA Thongam Biswajit has said.

Speaking to reporters at the office of the BJP Manipur Pradesh at Nityaipat Chuthek this afternoon, Biswajit said the BJP-led Government in the Centre is taking up efforts to bring peace in Manipur.

The Union Minister called for reducing tension between the two sides and allowing movement first to restore peace before forming a new Government.

This was a mature and responsible statement, Biswajit said.

After President's Rule was imposed, Manipur is slowly returning to the path of peace.

Violent incidents which were rampant in the past have come down.

The Congress' criticism at this time shows their ignorance, Biswajit added.

Under the Centre's watchful eyes, there have been positive impacts regarding the tension between the Kukis and the Meiteis.

Congress shouldn't undermine or criticise efforts to restore peace, Biswajit said.

Since the start of the conflict, Biswajit alleged that the Congress has been demanding resignation of MLAs and President's Rule.

But, when President's Rule came they seem to have come out to oppose it, not so publicly, he added.

He then argued that the Congress would never truly want the end of the President's Rule and formation of a new Government.

The Congress wants President's Rule.

They don't want the return of a BJP Government, he added.

The President's Rule has been imposed to restore normalcy and peace.

The BJP MLAs here have been performing their duties in the interests of the people.

Congress' MLAs aren't more patriotic than the BJP MLAs, Biswajit said.

The Congress should stop criticising all the time.

They should learn to see and discuss the Union Home Minister's statement in the positive light, Biswajit said, asking if the Congress could restore peace in Manipur.

When the BJP does and implements 100 relief works in relief camps, the Congress wouldn't appreciate it but find 5-10 faults and criticise.

Congress' such negative attitude will not help bring peace, Biswajit said.

The MLA claimed that the Congress will never be able to win majority votes and form Government in Manipur.

The people of the State have given them many chances in the past.

However, due to their wrongdoings, they will never be able to form the Government again.

People will never forgive them for their wrongdoings, he said.

Biswajit expressed confidence that the BJP will win the upcoming elections and form the Government.

BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary, K Sharatkumar, general secretary L Deben and secretary Kongkham Bikram and other leaders were present in the press meet.
