Imphal, June 25 2009: Meritorious students of hill districts were felicitated by the Information Centre for Hill Areas of Manipur (ICHAM) at Manipur Press Club yesterday.

The award conferred on meritorious students of hill districts annually is instituted by ICHAM president N Rajendra (Boy) and his family in memory of their late son, Rahul alias Thoithoi alias Bungcha.

The felicitation function was graced by TD and Veterinary Minister DD Thaisii and Youth Affairs and Sports Minister N Biren as chief guest and president respectively.

Former News Editor of ISTV K Madhumangol, ICM Chairman K Borkishore, YAS Director Boby Waikhom and columnist of The Sangai Express, Haobam Sanajaoba also attended the function as guests of honour.

The winners of these award were Rinyaphi Mungrei, Yaomata Chamroy and Shiratmi Raman for Ukhrul district; Mimi Singsit, Caroline Vaveishorou Pouhaina and Nimiu Pfozhe for Senapati district; Guangkhon Panmei, K Jhonbamliu and Jianthai Pou for Tamenglong district.

The winners for Churachandpur district were T Mangkholal Haokip, Sylvia Lhingnunmawi and Chingnunmawi.

Rumeensha Nguwaun Moyon, Dangshawa Koshang and Chaithu Siakpa Aimol were the winners for Chandel district.

The award carries citation and cash reward.
