The proscribed outfit PREPAK has indefinitely shut down Geet Coffee Corner restaurant, located at Lamphel on alleged charge of encouraging immoral activities among the youth.
In this connection, the owner of the restaurant and the waiter were paraded before mediapersons somewhere in the valley area today.
Parading them before the media , mobile team commander of the special task force of PREPAK Erei Khuman said that both the accused were rounded up by the mobile team of the special task force of the outfit during a drive yesterday.
During the course of interrogation, it has been known that they have provided room in the restaurant to one Nimai of Takyel Khongbal to indulge in immoral activities with a girl on three occasions in 2007.Moreover on March 20, this year, RK Japan s/o of RK Boy of Sorbol Thingel, Bhuran s/o late Chaoba of Thangmeiband Thingel, James of Sanakeithel, Armstrong of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai and waiter Wahengbam Romeo spend all night along with six girls at Geet Coffee Corner.
All the said boys and the girls should surrender to the outfit within April 30 and stern action would be taken up if they fail to do so, Erei Khuman said, while appealing to other restaurant owners to ensure such activities are not encourage in their restaurants.
In case of defiance of the appeal, they would be penalised with capital punishment without any warning, he cautioned.
Erei Khuman further informed that in consideration of their crimes as first offence Khaidem Imocha and Wahengbam Romeo would be handed over to their respective family members after giving proper advice.
However, the Geet Coffee Corner would be shut down permanently.
Accused Imocha and Romeo also admitted to the charges levelled against them and pledged to accept any punishment given by the outfit in future in case they do not keep their words.
