Imphal, January 23 2025: Chief Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh has directed all Administrative Secretaries, Heads of Departments, cooperative societies and NGOs to refrain from initiating any activities within Loktak Lake and its associated wetlands without prior permission from the Loktak Development Authority (LDA) .

It has come to the attention of the Government that certain departments, agencies, cooperative societies and NGOs are undertaking programmes and activities in and around Loktak Lake without obtaining the mandatory approval from the LDA, the Chief Secretary said in a notification.

The same notification issued on January 21, 2025 stated that accountability would be fixed on the Administrative Secretaries, Heads of Departments concerned and other responsible functionaries if any activity is carried out without the knowledge or approval of the LDA.

Strict compliance with this directive is mandatory and all stakeholders are advised to seek clearance from the LDA before undertaking any initiatives within Loktak Lake and its associated wetlands, it added.
