Rebel groups boycott R-Day, call general strike on January 26

With just four days to go for the country to celebrate the 72nd Republic Day, security measures have been tighten across the state as various rebel groups has boycotted the celebration and called bandh.
CorCom , a joint body of four major rebel group has boycotted the event and called 18 hours bandh on January 26 .
ASUK another joint body of two major rebel organization also called total shut down on the day , by terming the Republic Day as a day of the colonial ruler.
Another rebel group United People's Revolutionay Front of Manipur (UPRFM) also called 18 hours general strike on January 26 .
Separate statement made available to media houses by the rebel group had categorically justified the reason for boycotting the event.
A statement issued by the CorCom Publicity Committee asserted that the Republic Day is a timely reminder to all the people of 'occupied' Manipur (Kangleipak) to introspect more.
The structure and shape of the Constitution of India indicate that Manipuri people would be wiped from the surface of Earth if they remain within India for a longer period, it alleged.
Article 3 of the Indian Constitution empowers the Government of India to alter or re-draw the boundary of any State or Union Territory.
As such there is a nagging suspicion among the masses that Manipur may be fragmented into pieces any time, it said.
In the name of protection and ensuring development, the Constitution provides special status and special rights to different groups of people like Scheduled Tribe/Caste, ILP, Sixth Schedule.
Yet, the Parliament has the authority to amend the Constitution any time which means the Government may amend the Constitution in their own interest in future, added CorCom.
While the Parliament is dominated by MPs belonging to majority communities, Indian leaders are determined to transform India as an exclusive country for Hindi-speaking people, it alleged.
The people of Jammu & Kashmir were enjoying special rights as guaranteed by the Instrument of Accession signed between the Government of India and Kashmiri king Hari Singh on October 26, 1947 .
But the special rights enjoyed by the people of Jammu & Kashmir were removed a few years back.
Moreover, the State was bifurcated.
However, the international community and the masses could not do anything because the onus of protecting the freedom of Kashmir lies with its people, it remarked.
Likewise, it is the responsibility of the people of Manipur, which became a part of India after king Bodhachandra signed the Instrument of Accession and the Merger Agreement, to liberate the Nation from the alleged Indian occupation.
The CorCom asserted that the people of Manipur cannot afford to be complacent just because the Indian Constitution which does not have any permanent characteristic provides some safeguards.
Immigrant population has been overwhelming indigenous population in different regions of WESEA which enjoy special safeguards like ILP, it said.
It is something naturally expected for the Government of India to work for development of Manipur as Manipur is now a part of India.
Manipur (Kangleipak) and WESEA may become the most developed regions in India after 50/100 years but by then the whole WESEA and Manipur would be overwhelmed by Hindi-speaking non-local people, it alleged.
The only way to prevent extinction of the indigenous people is to struggle collectively and free themselves from the alleged Indian occupation, it asserted.
The CorCom then called upon all the people to suspend all daily activities, confine themselves within their homes during the 18 hours shutdown and boycott the Republic Day of India.
However, essential religious activities, medical and emergency services would be exempted from the purview of the shutdown, it added.
