CCpur simmers as minor found killed

Imphal, March 21 2025: In a horrific incident, the body of a minor girl, allegedly killed by unidentified miscreants, was found yesterday night at Lingsiphai, Lanva TD Block in Churachandpur district.

According to reports, the 9 year old victim from Lingsiphai village was last seen around 6.30 pm on March 20 .

When she did not return home around 8 pm, her worried parents initiated a search.

Later, her lifeless body was found at Lanva TD Block at approximately 11.30 pm.

Adding to doubts of foul play including suspicions of sexual assault, the young girl's body was found with injury marks on her neck and blood stains at the scene where the body was discovered.

In light of the gruesome incident, many have conveyed strong condemnations and demanded swift arrest of the culprits.

Notably, the Zomi Mothers' Association (ZMA), Zomi Students' Federation (ZSF), Young Vaiphei Association Haupi Block, Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights, Young Vaiphei Association GHQ, Hmar Women Association and Zillai Churachandpur District (Vaiphei Students' Association) have strongly condemned the inhumane killing of the child.

The associations have raised a call for law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation, determine the cause of death, apprehend the culprit (s) and deliver justice to the grieving family.

Extending solidarity to the bereaved family, they have also offered their heartfelt condolences.

Additionally, in a call for justice, the Zomi Mother's Association organised a candle light vigil at Lanva TB Block at 7 pm with the participation of Zomi women, public and representatives of Zomi organisations including ZC, ZSF and ZYA .
