The kids of a vigilant family who were on an evening walk at around 4:20 pm today saved another child from being kidnapped by a man who claimed he was trying to exchange the child with liquor.
According to information received by this correspondent, Stelin Kom (7) while on his way to a Pan Dukan not far from his residence was grabbed by a man and was dragged towards Thengra Leirak, an adjoining locality.
There, a family taking the evening walk, and whose children were familiar with the victim boy alerted their parents on seeing their friend crying with pain in the hands of an unidentified man.
Consequently the parents reacted and the boy was rescued and his kidnapper apprehended.
Irate residents then thrashed the kidnapper before handing him over to the police.
When asked, the terrified boy said his kidnapper had slapped him thrice on his face after he screamed for help.
The assailant also reportedly told him that he would be exchanged with liquor and that the Ten Rupees in his possession would be used for purchasing eatables for the liquor.
the kidnapper was severely beaten up that he even failed to properly identity himself.
While identity of the kidnapper still remains unlnown at the time of filing this report, some individuals has said the adult is one Thanglal of Matejang village.
The local police got hold of the Thanglal at around 5pm, about 40 minutes after he was apprehended and placed him under their custody.
As the kidnapper�s statement could not be ascertained for now, his actual intention in the futile attempt also remains a mystery.
