The Governor Gurbachan Jagat visited Bishnupur district today and interacted with the district's Deputy Commissioner, the Superintendent of Police and other district level officers (DLOs) on the functioning of various offices in the district in a meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat, Bishnupur.
According to a statement issued by the Governor's Secretariat, the Governor after listening to the departmental reports from the DLOs told them to accord top priority to routine work of the officials 'because policies and programme of the Government are implemented at the district level'.
"You are public servants, not a ruling class, and you should be accessible to the people and let the people believe in you that you are doing something for the people," the statement quoted the Governor as saying.
Further advising the DLOs to work as instruments of the Government for the effective implementation of policies and programmes of Governments at Imphal and New Delhi, the Governor reportedly reminded the officials that they are the implementing agencies of the Govt policy and developmental programmes.
Manipur is a very beautiful State and has its glorious and age-old cultural heritage but the State is today passing through a difficult phase, the Governor expressed and reiterated that the Govt officials need to shoulder the responsibility of bringing about progress and prosperity in Manipur.
