Chandel, April 19 2025:
A Maring villager sus-tained severe injuries during an alleged altercation involving illegal immi-grants from Myanmar at a water festivity in the N Satang area on Wednesday in Tengnoupal District.
The injured individual has been identified as 30-year-old Modarshim Ma- ring.
He received first aid at a nearby Assam Rifles post.
The incident has prompted calls for immediate relocation of the refugees.
The Rilram Area Maring Organisation (RAMO) has demanded that the district administration act within a week to prevent fur- ther such incident from resurfacing.
According to sources, Choktong village has formally urged authorities to move the immigrants out of Maring-inhabited areas, citing repeated confrontations.
The Maring Naga villagers had initially provided shelter on humanitarian grounds after the administration promised to relocate them post biometric data collection.
However, patience has worn thin as the illegal immigrants are allegedly hostile to the local Maring villagers.
Prakash Maring, president of Rilram Area Mar- ing Organisation (RAMO) has criticised the Central and State Governments for failing to enforce laws.
He demanded that the immigrants must be shifted within seven days to avoid further violence.
