Imphal, June 18 2024:
Make Delhi understand the true nature of the conflict or resign, said Imagi Meira to 40 MLAs of the valley region.
It said the 40 MLAs including the Chief Minister, within 2 days, must send the facts, data and information on the conflict to make Delhi see the conflict in the true light and take positive actions to end the conflict.
These strong words from Imagi Meira came following the high level security meeting held at Delhi yesterday.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today afternoon, Imagi Meira convenor Th Sujata said the Chief Minister, who is also holding the charge of Home, has acted very weakly.
She said the Chief Minister wasn't invited to the high level security meeting chaired by the Union Home Minister.
"Why has Delhi not invited the Chief Minister and why is he so weak?" Sujata asked.
The high level meet was attended by Security Advisor to State Government, Kuldiep Singh, Chief Secretary, Dr Vineet Joshi and DGP Rajiv Singh.
Certainly, the Chief Minister was not invited, and surprisingly, no person from Manipur attended the meeting which apparently discussed the fate of the State.
This had notably caused outrage among the public.
Meanwhile, Imagi Meira convenor Th Sujata put forth a series of questions on the security meet in Delhi and said there seems to be a significant communication gap between the Centre and the State Government.
"Why is he so weak? Why has he not asserted his power and openly questioned why he was left out of the meeting? It is clearly evident that the CM isn't communicating with the Central Government on the Manipur issue, and there seems to be a significant gap between the Centre and the State Government," Sujata said.
Imagi Meira holds the Security Advisor and the Director General of Police responsible for the fresh violence in Jiribam district recently, she said.
While the Chief Minister has often blamed his Government's "good deeds" [of cracking down on drugs, poppy cultivation and identification of illegal immigrants] as the cause of the conflict, there is suspicion if the Centre is controlling the State Government remotely and deliberately inducing and prolonging the conflict, she said.
"If this isn't the case, then we are constrained to ask the CM why he has not acted manly and openly," Sujata added.
Referring to the overall actions of the Union Home Minister amid the conflict, Sujata summarily said, Imagi Meira can't agree with the manner in which the Union Home Minister has acted and it condemns it.
The ongoing conflict was first fueled and started by the Kukis and not the Meiteis.
Strong actions must be taken up against those who first perpetrated and fuelled the violence, she said.
"Our youths were forced to pick up arms to defend their families and the people.
They didn't have any other options, but to pick up arms and protect themselves and their families.
None can touch and harm them," Sujata said.
After the high level security meeting at Delhi, it is anticipated that more Central security forces may be deployed in Manipur, she said.
There are thousands of Central security forces already in Manipur and they have so far failed to the point that they were unable to prevent the attack on the Chief Minister's advance convoy on the way to Jiribam.
Why is the Centre bringing in more of such forces ? she asked.
The State is in a precarious situation, Sujata said asserting that the 40 MLAs (of the valley) should "stop power struggle and camping in Delhi" and start working together to end the conflict.
The 40 MLAs, within 2 days, must send the facts and data about the conflict to the Centre to make the leaders in Delhi truly understand the conflict.
If they are unable to do so, then all of them including the Chief Minister should tender their resignation, Sujata said.
