Imphal, August 17 2026:
PUYA is known for revealing gross irregularities in Government run hospital and healthcare centres, but in an unusual encounter, it found the staff of the District Hospital Thoubal performing duties "sincerely and with dedication" today.
"We found patients in large number arriving at the District Hospital Thoubal for treatment, and the staff, nurses and doctors performing their duties diligently and sincerely.
We appreciate the entire staff for their dedication," said a member of PUYA after an inspection at the hospital.

Notably, the inspection at the district hospital was carried out by members of the People's United Youth Alliance (PUYA) and the Foothills Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC) .
The team found that there has been no repair work since the launch of the hospital in 2011 .
The team found the building structure unstable and leaking at several sections, and water-logging in drainage due to clogging.
The team said they found 51 doctors, one Nursing Superintendent, 8 Nursing Sisters, 44 Staff Nurses, 41 Paramedical staff, 71 Grade IV staff stationed at the hospital.
FNCC convenor Akhiu Ngaomei said the District Hospital Thoubal treats around 500-600 patients daily.
Considering the large number of patients visiting the hospital each day, it still requires additional doctors, nurses and support staff.
While the building needs repairing and renovation, Akhiu said the team found the hospital lacking several equipment including some basic items such as cotton and hand-gloves.
When the hospital has loads of medicines which are used or prescribed rarely, it is found lacking medicines which are used and prescribed daily, he said.
The medicine suppliers and relevant authorities should prioritise supplying medicines which are used often and on a daily basis, he added.
PUYA general secretary Longjam Abothe said the team was very happy to find the hospital staff performing their duties to the satisfaction of the patients.
While the hospital is lacking some staff, they are found managing the shortage quite efficiently, he added.
The hospital building and drainage systems on the other hand require urgent repairs.
The authorities concerned should also take up steps to make the hospital's Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) functional by assigning or appointing a technical staff, he said.
Finding the hospital procuring syringes, hand-gloves for usage without waiting for the directorate to supply them is praiseworthy, he said, however urging the relevant authorities to supply the items especially first-aid equipment and medicines timely.
So far, District Hospital Thoubal is the only hospital in the valley that has been found running quite efficiently, he said, appreciating the entire staff including the Medical Superintendent, doctors and nurses.
