Eid-ul-Zuha greetings pour in from all over

Governor Anusuiya Uikey, Chief Minister N Biren Singh and others have greeted Muslims on Eid-Ul-Zuha/Eid al-Adha.
Eid-Ul-Zuha meaning "festival of sacrifice" signifies the spirit of sacrifice rising above the narrow barriers of one's ego and self-interest for the good of all.
The festival promotes tolerance, harmony and goodwill amongst different communities.
On this sacred occasion, let us forget our differences and usher in an era of peace and harmony in Manipur, said Anusuiya Uikey greeting the people, especially Muslims.
Greeting the people, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said Eid-Ul-Zuha commemorates the supreme sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim for the sake of mankind and his devotion to Allah.
May this festival help unite the people of the State and promote the spirit of common brotherhood for a peaceful Manipur, he said in his message to the people.
Several political parties, Janata Dal (United), Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and organisations including Urup Khunou Youth Club, Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS), Pangal Tem Manipur, All Manipur Ethnical Socio-Cultural Organisation (AMESCO), All Manipur Democratic Student's Organisation (AMDSO), Meipak Ningthou Committee, Islah Ekhalq Mashwarah Foundation and All Manipur Muslim Development Committee (AMMDC) etc have also greeted the people on the occasion.
Eid-Ul-Zuha, also known as the festival of sacrifice, marks the 10th day of the Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah.
This festival, one of the two major Islamic celebrations alongside Eid al-Fitr, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's devotion and obedience to Allah.
The observance of Eid-Ul-Zuha, also called Bakrid, involves the traditional sacrifice of an animal, a practice known as Qurbani.
The meat from the sacrifice is distributed among family, friends, neighbours, and those in need, reflecting the spirit of sharing and charity that defines the festival.
The timing of Eid-Ul-Zuha varies globally based on the sighting of the crescent moon.
In India, the crescent moon was sighted on June 7, 2024.Therefore, Eid-Ul-Zuha in India will be celebrated on June 17, 2024 .
