Manipur a powerhouse of human energy : RSS leader

Imphal, February 15 2026: RSS Sah-Sarkaryawah Dr Krishnagopal, who was on a 2-day visit here, attended a Hindu Sammelan at Dharamsala, Thangal Bazar, and interacted with doctors' commu- nity at Bhaskar Prabha, Konjeng Leikai, Imphal West, in a programme organised by RSS Imphal Nagar.

The event at Dharamsala, a part of RSS's 100-year centenary celebrations, was organised by Bazar Upana-gar Hindu Sammelan Samiti.

At the sammelan, Dr Krishnagopal urged Hindus to unite and address social challenges.

He recalled how the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which was founded in 1925 in Nagpur by Dr KB Hedgewar with just one shakha, has now expanded with nearly 90,000 shakhas across Bharat (India) .

He said, "Bharat uniquely allows people of different castes, communities, religions, and beliefs to live together peacefully.

All residents here are Bharatiyas and part of the Hindu family" .

He praised Manipur's Hindus, saying they have shown patience, endurance, and a peace-loving spirit during crises.

At the event at Bhaskar Prabha, Konjeng Leikai, Imphal West, Dr Krishnagopal called on medical professionals to address the growing health challenges facing modern Bharat (India) .

Dr Krishnagopal said India is among the world's fastest-growing economies, and expressed confidence that the country is moving steadily toward becoming a "developed (unati) Nation" .

Commending the establishment of the National Sports University in Manipur, Dr Krishnagopal remarked that it symbolizes Manipur's potential as a powerhouse of physical strength and youth energy.

He urged the local community to ensure that Manipur does not become a hub of drug addiction but a model of mental and physical wellness.

He reminded the gathering that Manipur's traditional diet ranks among the healthiest in India but warned against the growing attraction toward fast food, which has adversely affected public health.

The RSS leader appealed to both doctors and citizens to preserve traditional dietary habits and promote healthy living.

Dr Krishnagopal also urged the doctors' community to adopt a colony near RIMS and provide free counselling and healthcare services to approximately 500 residents.

He cited several RSS initiatives-such as organizing free eye-testing camps that distributed over 165 lakh spectacles during the Maha Kumbh Mela, establishing a Rs 100 crore eye hospital in Nagpur, and developing a Rs 300 crore charitable hospital in Vrindavan.

These efforts reflect a spirit of social duty rather than publicity, he said.

He appreciated the National Medicos Organisation (NMO), an independent National-level body of doctors, for their service and outreach in various underserved regions.

Around 200 doctors from Manipur-representing diverse medical fields, including Manipuri professionals working across India and a super-specialist currently based in the United Kingdom-actively took part in the programme.

Hindu Sammelans were also organised at BOAT, Palace Compound; Sangeet Kala Sangam, Khurai Lamlong; Uripok Achom Leikai Basketball Ground; Ningthoukhong Radha Mandap; and Oinam Community Hall.

In total, 64 events are underway across Manipur-22 in Imphal, 10 in Bishnupur, 7 in Thoubal, 15 in Senapati, 2 in Churachandpur, 3 in Chandel, 1 in Ukhrul, and 4 in Tamenglong.
