Rs 325 Cr marked for CCpur medical college

Imphal, February 12 2021: Chief Minister N Biren has stated that the State Government has been working to set up a medical college at Churachandpur at the cost of Rs 325 crore under a Central sponsored scheme.

With an aim to provide better health care to the people, proposals for opening of three new medical colleges at Churachandpur District Hospital, Thoubal District Hospital and Chandel District Hospital were already submitted to the Central Government of which approval for up-gradation of Churachandpur District Hospital to a Medical College has been granted.

He said this is the second State owned medical college after JNIMS.

Under the funding pattern of 90:10, a total of Rs 325 crore has been sanctioned by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

The State Government has been urging the Ministry for up-gradation of Thoubal District Hospital to a new medical college, Biren said.

It is not establishment of a totally new medical college.

Rather it is amalgamation of the existing district hospital with other health care facilities and upgradation to a medical college, said the Chief Minister.

As such, the Government would not need to invest the whole estimated amount.

For purchasing equipment, funds can be obtained from CSR and other funding agencies, Biren said.

Replying to a query raised by MLA K Ranjit, N Biren informed the House that a new policy for recruitment of Group C & D posts has been implemented from March 28, 2017 as per the Central Government norms except for recruitment of State security personnel.

He said as of now new norms (of not holding interviews) for recruitment of Group B post has not been implemented in the State although the same norm has been followed in recruitment of Group C and Group D posts since March 28, 2017 .

As the norm has been already implemented, recruitment to any Group C and Group D posts through interview would be reviewed, if there is any, said the Chief Minister.

Agriculture Minister O Lukhoi Singh informed the House that a total of Rs 2,238.37 lakh has been sanctioned for construction of Rice Research Station at Wangbal in Thoubal district under Special Plan Assistance during 2013-14 and 2014-15 .

While replying to a question raised by K Ranjit, the Minister said a total of Rs 248.707 lakh as State matching share is yet to be sanctioned.

He said required laboratory equipment, furniture and farm machinery will be installed as and when the State share is released.

While replying to another question raised by MLA Th Lokeshwar Singh, Biren said that under the PMKSY-HKKP (GW), 50 numbers of irrigation tube-wells have been executed.

He said altogether 550 numbers of such wells will be executed at an estimated cost of Rs 61.68 crore.

Power supply line to the feasible areas and solar power terminals will also be made available to the wells for their functioning.
