Assurance given on rail line

Imphal, April 11 2025:
Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh has informed Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba that the the 111 Km long Jiribam- Imphal railway line project would be completed soon.
In the letter, the Union Minister also said that all necessary arrangements are in place to complete the railway project on schedule.
It is reported that Ravneet Singh gave the assurance in response to a motion raised by MP Sanajaoba during a Parliament session on February 3 last.
The project was taken up with a Budget estimation of Rs 22,274.57 crore to connect Imphal with the railway network of the country.
Saying that the Rs 14,423 crore has been spent on the project as of March 31, 2024, the Union Minister continued that the Jiribam-Khongsang (55.36 Km) stretch of the railway project has already been completed.
He went on to state that the work is ongoing for Khongsang-Noney (18.25 Km) and Noney-Imphal (37.02 Km) stretch.
Further stating that completion of the railway project also depends on various factors, including land acquisition, forest clearance, geological and topographical conditions, law and order, and other State authorities' responsibilities, he added that resolving these issues is essential for timely project completion.
He assured that the Government, nonetheless, has been making all possible arrangements to complete the project on time to enhance connectivity.
