More oppose Lei Ingkhol eviction

As many as 17 organisations have extended support to the protest being taken out by Lei Ingkhol residents under the banner "Save Lei Ingkhol From Displacement" .
Today, members of Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL), All Manipur Women's Social Reformation and Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj), All Manipur Tammi Chingmi Apunba Nupi Lup (AMTCANL), Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup (NLANL), Apunba Nupi Lup Lumlangdong (ANUL) Bishnupur, Nongchup Imphal Palem Ima Apunba Nupi Lup (NIMPAL), Thouna District United Women's Development Organisation (Thoubal Ima), Ereipak Enat Chanura Loi-nasilon, (EECHAL), Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Semgat Sagatpa Lup (KNKSSL), Khwairamband Phouoibi Ima Keithel Vendor Welfare Union (KPIKVWU), Manipuri Chanura Leishemba Marup (Macha Leima), United People's Front (UPF), National Identity Protection Council (NIPCO), Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (C ADA), All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association (AMPFA) and a student organisation staged a protest at Lei Ingkhol Community Hall along with the local residents.
The protesters held placards with slogans such as "Don't Abolish Lei Ingkhol" and "Save Lei Ingkhol," among others, voicing their opposition to the proposed eviction drive at the locality at Chingmeirong.
Speaking to the media, Nupi Samaj president Thokchom Ramani shared that the Lei Ingkhol was established about 60 years back by a group of individuals suffering from diseases like tuberculosis and leprosy who were ostracized by society.
Over time, the residents built a strong support system, helping one another, Ramani said and emphasized that any attempt to evict them is unacceptable.
She expressed solidarity to the movement to save Lei Ingkhol.
