MCPCR takes up suo motu case

The Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) has initiated a suo motu case regarding ths alleged beating of 15 student inmates at the boys' hostel of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalaya (NSCBAV) at Lilong by the warden late at night of September 27 .
It is reported that the Commission has directed all parties involved to submit relevant documents.
Notably, the police have also registered a case regarding the incident following a complaint by the Deputy Inspector of Schools and coordinator of NSCBAV Lilong Block.
According to a report submitted by Lilong police to the MCPCR, the incident occurred between 10.40 and 11.30 pm on September 27, with the report alleging that the hostel warden Md Azimuddin severely beat the boys late at night.
The report further stated that some students attempted to flee the hostel campus out of fear, and bruises were observed on the boys, causing many students to panic.
Reportedly, parents of the boys who were beaten, along with witnesses, have confirmed the incident's authenticity, supported by the Medical Officer and Resource Person of Lilong Community Health Centre and local authorities on September 28 .
Additionally, photographic evidence is available, according to the report.
Meanwhile, the MCPCR has initiated a hearing regarding a case of corporal punishment of a student at Catholic School, Canchipur, with the school Principal and the involved teacher present today.
