The Chinglemba Mangang group of the proscribed PREPAK has re-christened itself as the United Peoples' Party of Kangleipak.
In a statement issued to the press today, assistant secretary in charge of information and publicity department and district committee member, Khuman Laishramcha said 'The Chinglemba Mangang group of PREPAK will no more be seen or heard in our land from today, the 6th November, 2008.

From this auspicious day onwards, the United Peoples' Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) with its armed wing Kangleipak Peoples' Army (KPA) is pledged to carry on its revolutionary activities under the supreme command and leadership of its sole founder leader Chinglemba Mangang' .
The UPPK stands for a united effort of all like minded revolutionary outfits operating in the region to make a sovereign republic of Kangleipak, said the outfit and added that it stands for a united endeavour and collective struggle to foster unity, promote revolutionary comradeship and maintain a close relationship among all the revolutionary parties of the region.
Spelling out its stand, the outfit said that it does not encourage forcible monetary demands and collection and added that they have stopped collecting party fund from the general public and the Government Departments.
Giving the reason for this decision, the statement said that collecting money from the public and Government employees causes undue harassment and distorts the revolutionary image.
The statement recalled how the outfit had announced this on October 9, this year when they were known as the Chinglemba Mangang group of PREPAK.
The executive members of the party's Central Committee and Political Bureau will be announced in due course, added the statement.
The UPKK has also sought the co-operation of the people and pledged that it will always safeguard the political interest and integrity of the hill and plain peoples of Kangleipak.
