Imphal, May 07 2026: A combined team of security forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Marenmei-Hengbung hill ranges under Senapati Police Station during a combing operation today.

The recovered items include two .22 rifle with magazines, one 303 rifle with magazine, one MP5 with magazine, one AK 47 rifle with magazine, four Bolt Action rifles, one country made shotgun, three .32 pistols with magazines, two .22 pistol with magazine, four live rounds of 5.56 mm, 15 live rounds of 9mm, 20 live rounds of 303, 20 live rounds of .32, 4 live rounds of Sniper, twelve live rounds of 12 Bore ammunition.

According to sources, a combined team of Senapati District Police, 16 Assam Rifles and CRPF personnel conducted a joint cordon and search operation at Marenmei-Hengbung hill ranges this morning.

During the search operation, the security forces were able to recover a large cache of arms and ammunition from the bushes along Marenmei-Hengbung hill ranges.

The recovered arms and ammunition were brought to the Senapati Police Station and a suo moto case was registered under FIR No 18(5) 2026 SPT-PS u/s 25 (1-C) Act for further investigation, said sources.

In a separate operation, security forces recovered a variety of arms, ammunition and explosives from Hengkapkot area in Churachandpur, today.

The recovered items include three single barrel rifles, one .303 rifle, one pumpi, four rocket shells, one cylindrical IED (500 gram explosive), one conical IED (4 Kg), four bullet proof jackets, two helmets, seven fired cases of AK-47, four fired cases of 7.62mm and one radio set charger.
