The historic peace march of the Manipuri diaspora under the banner Manipur Levy 2008 arrived at Takyel, here last evening.
The peace march was set off from Silchar, Assam on December 29 under the theme "Spirit of Freedom".
Enroute to Sports Authority of India (SAI) complex at Takyel, the marchers were accorded warm reception by the public including representatives of several social organisations at different spots.

The marchers set off for Takyel from Keithelmanbi at about 1.30 pm of January 6 where they put up the previous night.
The Keithelmanbi-Takyel leg of the peace march was flagged off by chief of Maha Kabui Lamching Tomba Kabui from Keithelmanbi Bazar.
The marchers who voiced slogans like, "We belong to the same mother", "Manipur is great", "Long Live Manipur" etc, all their way along Imphal-Cachar road were received warmly by the people settling on either side of the road.
Representatives of different organisations and MPP leaders were also there receiving the peace marchers.
After arriving at Takyel, a one day seminar was also organised by the Manipur Levy 2008 marchers at SAI indoor stadium today.
Besides a reception function, a seminar participated by many resource persons was also held on the topic "Sports Sciences and Sports Medicines".
The reception function was attended by Kshetrigao A/C MLA Thangjam Nandakishore, general secretary of NCP Manipur unit K Sarat, Manipur Levy 2008 leaders K Gulapi and Y Dhiren, co-ordinating committee chairman RK Ronendro and SAI-NERC co-ordinator Th Dhanabir as presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, Nandakishore observed that Manipur is now in a critical situation.
He also called upon all Manipuris, settling inside and outside Manipur, to take a firm stand in oneness to save Manipur.
K Sarat said that Manipur needs a new sports movement.
Another grand reception ceremony will be held at Kangla in honour of the peace marchers tomorrow.
