Imphal, October 06: The second round of talk held between representatives of the Apunba Lup and Governor SS Sidhu today has paved the way for members of the Lup to have a meeting with the highest level at New Delhi and talk things over the demand of the people for the complete revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act from the State.

Briefing newsmen after the one hour meeting with the Governor at Raj Bhawan today, co-ordinator of the Apunba Lup, Chongtham Surjit said that representatives of the Lup may go to Delhi this month to have talks with leaders at New Delhi.

The date is however yet to be fixed.

The Lup members made it clear to the Governor that peace can come only when the AFSPA is revoked and when human security is guaranteed, said Surjit.

The talks will be held at the Prime Minister's level, he said while answering queries from the newsmen.

To queries on how committed the Governor is to solve the present impasse, Surjit said that the fact that a second meeting was held today shows that the response of the Governor has been positive.

This is a step forward in the right direction; he said and added that the Governor also understands the situation well.

The next round of talk will be held at New Delhi, informed the Lup leader adding that it will be held at the highest level.

Though no specific date was announced, Surjit said that members of the Lup may leave for Delhi within this month.

To a question whether the Lup believes that a talk at the highest level will bring any solution to the present impasse, Surjit answered in the affirmative and said that they are looking forward to a solution during the meeting at the highest level.

The Apunba Lup however does not know whether the Governor took the initiative of inviting them for a talk under the directive of the Centre or not, he said.

Other co-ordinators of the Lup who met the Governor today included, Ayekpam Langdon, Laishram Babloo and Leishangthem Jadumani.
