Imphal, July 06 2025:
The president of the Manipur unit of BJP, A Sharda Devi, has refused to comment on the stand of the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) that none of the Kuki-Zo MLAs will take part in forming a new Government in Manipur.
In a statement released on Saturday, the KIM had said the "decision reflects the united political will of the Kuki-Zo people and must be followed by all their leaders and groups" .
Out of the 10 Kuki-Zo MLAs in the Manipur Assembly, seven belong to the BJP .
Since the violence broke out between the Meitei and Kuki communities on May 3, 2023, Kuki MLAs have been demanding a Separate Administration.
A team of media, on the sideline of the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee held at BJP party office in Imphal on Sunday, raised queries about KIM's decision, but Manipur unit BJP president Sharda Devi said she would not make any comment on the matter.
BJP MLA Dinganglung Gangmei, also known as Dipu Gangmei, told reporters, "In a Parliamentary system, party leaders make decisions.
We are just workers" .
He also said, "We are hopeful that displaced people will be resettled by the end of December, as the Chief Secretary had said" .
Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba was also asked about KIM's statement.
He said, "Any decision will be taken by Central leaders.
I don't have anything to say on this right now" .
President's Rule was imposed in the State on February 13 .
This came four days after N Biren Singh resigned
as Chief Minister.
