Imphal, July 06 2024: The All Manipur Christian Organi-zation (AMCO), representing diverse Christian commu-nities and denominations across Manipur, has categorically stated that they have faith in the leadership of Inner Manipur MP (Lok Sabha) Dr Bimol Akoijam to effect positive change, safe- guard religious freedom and promote peace in the strife-torn State.

AMCO, in a statement, appreciated Dr Bimol for his 'resolute' stance and delivering a 'powerful' speech in defence of the people of Manipur and North East India on the floor of the Parliament recently.

"Our prayers are exten-ded to Dr Bimol Akoijam, as we believe in his capable leadership to effect positive change, safeguard religious freedom, and promote peace in our strife-torn State," it added.

In acknowledgment of secular values and justice, AMCO also expressed its appreciation to the Government and stakeholders for their endeavour to restore peace and reconciliation in the State.

The gradual return to normalcy allows individuals to exercise their fundamental right to freedom of worship-a right guaranteed to every citizen of the secular Nation, AMCO added.

Saying that Meitei Christians now find assurance and freedom in practising their chosen faith, AMCO continued that efforts are also being made constantly to diminish instances of ethnic violence and enhance security measures in the State.

Sharing the burdens and inconveniences of the victims of the ethnic tension and natural calamities , AMCO appealed to all communities and religions to foster love, harmony, and peaceful coexistence in Manipur.
