Cops force open ticket counters

Imphal, May 06: State Police today forced open the ticketing counters of the Inter-State Tourist bus services operating along the Imphal-Dimapur Road, though tickets were not issued from any of the said counters.

The bus services along the Imphal-Dimapur Road has been stopped since May 3 in protest against levying of undue taxes at various check posts located all along the route.

Counters at North AOC open after cops intervened for inter-State buses to resume service

In a public notification yesterday, SP of Imphal West District L Kailun had announced that normal bus services along Imphal-Guwahati would resume from today along with providing adequate security coverage and had appealed to the people to get their tickets from the ticketing counters located at North AOC.

However, as none of the counters opened till 8 am today with no sign of any tourist buses parking nearby, a team of State police force was pressed into action and forced open the ticketing counters with breaking down of the locks.

But as the tickets were not issued in accordance to the earlier decision of the All Manipur Inter-State Bus Association, the public and specially students studying outside coming to book their tickets have to return empty handed and dejected.

Meanwhile, while reiterating that the ongoing agitation of not plying bus services along Imphal-Dimapur Road would continue, All Manipur Inter-State Bus Association has convened a meeting of the bus owners at Tampha Hotel at 2 pm tomorrow to discuss the matter.
