Imphal, February 06 2025: Advocate Meisnam Johnny Meetei has said that arresting village volunteers without valid reason is denial of justice.

Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club today, Johnny said that a team of Porompat commandos arrested five village volun- teers-Anand, Romenjit, Kajit, Johnson and Michael on September 16, 2023 and they were produced before the Court of Special Judge of NIA, Manipur.

Saying that the Court granted bail to the village volunteers, he said that the Court however transferred the case to NIA Court, Delhi later in another case.

Further stating that village volunteers are not part of a terrorist organisation or any unlawful organisation, the Advocate added that families of the five accused have spent a large chunk of money in fighting the case in Delhi.

Saying that he challenged the hearing of the case in New Delhi by approaching the High Court of Manipur, he added that the High Court has set aside the order which transferred the case to NIA Court, Delhi yesterday.
