Six teachers feted on Teacher's Day

Imphal, September 05 2024:
The Department of Education, celebrated the State Level Teacher's Day at the auditorium of MFSDS, Palace Compound, Imphal today.
The observance saw the launch of "Chief Minister's Award for Educational Excellence, 2024" for Education (U) .
Education Minister Th Basanta Kumar awarded 8 colleges with the award.
The colleges include Manipur College, Don Bosco College, Thoubal College, Kamakhya Pemton College, SK Women's College, Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Mount Everest College, and TS Paul Manipur Women's College.
The State Teacher's Awards 2024 were conferred on six teachers--Lisham Roma Devi (Primary Teacher of Athokpam Jr High School); Ch Damayenti Devi (Arts Graduate Teacher of Changangei Jr High School), Akoijam Sundari Devi (Arts Graduate Teacher of Ningthoukhong Hr Sec School), Hriiziio Adahe (Science Graduate Teacher of Mao Maram Hr Sec School), P Nipendro Singh (Principal of Model Hr Sec School), and Binodkumar Sharma (Hindi Graduate Teacher of Irang Part-II Govt High School) .

The award carries a citation and cash award of Rs 50,000 .
The Government also honoured Principals/ Headmasters of 31 Government schools which achieved 100% pass percentage in the High School Leaving Certificate Examination-2024 conducted by BOSEM.
Principals/Headmasters of 12 Government schools which achieved 100% pass percentage in the Higher Secondary Examination-2024 conducted COHSEM were also honoured in the event.
Further, 68 Government school teachers who produced subject toppers in the Higher Secondary Examination-2024 were honoured with certificates and mementos.
Education Minister Th Basanta Kumar Singh graced the function as the chief guest, while Commissioner (Education) H Gyan Prakash; Director (University and Higher Education) Dr Rangitabali Waikhom; and Director (Education-S) L Nandakumar Singh attended the event as the president and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Th Basanta Kumar Singh appreciated the mammoth role of a teacher in one's life.
Teachers shape the minds of students and guide them, he said.
He applauded the utmost dedication and devotion rendered by the teachers' community in guiding the lives of students.
The Minister further stated that according to the National Achievement Survey (NAS), which is a comprehensive educational assessment survey conducted in India every three years, Manipur has shown a remarkably good scale when compared to other developed States.
Manipur has performed really well in various categories like Class III standard, Class V standard, Class VIII standard and Class X standard by scoring above the National average in this survey, he said.
Manipur is ahead of other Northeastern States in this survey, he said, giving credits of the achievement to the teachers.
Under the School Phagathansi Mission, which was set up under the vision and leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, 120 schools (two schools per Assembly Constituency) have been so far set up as model schools, said the Minister.
The Department is working to include more Government schools and upgrade them to model schools in the subsequent phases, he added.
Th Basanta Kumar further stated that schools should be developed in such a way that both the students and teachers can come to their schools with pride.
