Assam Rifles refutes NSCN (K) claim

Dimapur, September 05 2012: The Assam Rifles have rebutted to the NSCN-K version on the alleged recent raid in one of the latter's officials house in Mon district of Nagaland.

The PRO, Inspector General of Assam Rifles, North Sector based in Kohima said today that the version of the NSCN-K is totally baseless saying it was a desperate attempt by NSCN-K trying to cover the continuous Cease Fire Ground Rule violations by its cadres wherein many cadres and weapons have been recovered by Assam Rifles.

The Assam Rifles said that the statement made by Hokato Vusshe, Cease Fire Supervisory Board (CFSB) caretaker of the NSCN-K regarding raid being conducted on August 25 at the house of CCM Akhem L Mongzar is totally baseless and malafide 'as troops ex Longkhim COB had carried out routine patrolling with police representative accompanying the Assam Rifles troops throughout and no house was entered or searched' .

"This is for the general public to know that, on September 2, the 21 Assam Rifles carried out a search operation based on confirmed input regarding presence of NSCN-K cadres with arms and ammunition who came to Zunheboto Town from Surumi designated camp with an aim to carryout inter factional clash which itself is a gross violation of Cease Fire Ground Rules (CFGR) .

Search was carried out in the house of Vineka Aye who claimed that three cadres were staying in her house forcefully and without her consent.

It is also stated that one rifle AK-56 with ammunition was recovered when the cadres made a desperate escape and dropping their weapon due to the relentless pursuit by the Assam Rifles.

One 7.65mm pistol with ammunition was also recovered from the house of the said lady as they could not carry it while they fled.

The NSCN-K cadres moved with arms were a gross violation of the CFGR and they were very well aware of the same hence they ran off from the site of the incident," claimed the Assam Rifles in a statement today.

It is also stated that there was no card holder nor any representative from NSCN-K present at location to prove their identification except the lady owner who claimed she was unaware of the weapons and that the NSCN-K cadres have entered her house without her permission.

The accusation as levelled that 'self-style' Lt Col Akaho's house was raided is totally false as though his house is in the same colony yet his house was not searched.

NSCNK has contradicted themselves by stating SS Lt Col Akaho Sumi as card holder as he being a military wing cadre is not in the list of card holders as issued by CFSB, the Assam Rifles further stated.

It is also being assured that all search operations launched are along with police representative and is carried out with due consent of owner in presence of local villagers.

Due "No Objection Certificate" is also obtained after search of the specific house and necessary aid in way of rations etc are distributed to showcase the humane face of the Assam Rifles.

The action by 21 Assam Rifles has thwarted a major plot to disturb the harmony in the region of Zunheboto district in which innocent lives could have been lost, the Assam Rifles press communique stated.
