Imphal, May 05 2026:
Denouncing the miserable failure of Central forces to protect lives of innocent citizens and their properties, a mass protest held today at Thangmeiband Tarung village demanded withdrawal of the Central security forces.
The protest demonstration was jointly organised by AMUCO, AMAWOVA, COHR, MSF and PLMPAM in association with Tarung village, Tharon village, Neikalong village, Guigalong village, Grace Colony and Chiru Rem Colony.
The protesters vehemently condemned the murder of two sleeping children in a powerfill bomb attack at Tronglaobi and the killing of three civilians in indiscriminate firing by CRPF .

Speaking to the media, Tronglaobi Village Women's Society member Akhamlu Gonmeipui said that the killing of two children, the death of three civilians in indiscriminate firing by CRPF at Tronglaobi and the killing of two civilians in a deadly ambush at TM Kasom along Imphal-Ukhrul road are all acts of terrorism which cannot be pardoned.
She urged the Government to book, prosecute and punish all the perpetrators of the Tronglaobi and TM Kasom killings.
Noting that all the people of Manipur are living under a highly insecure and distressful atmosphere, Akhamlu said that all sections are fed up with the prolonged widespread violence.
She appealed to the Government to award exemplary punishment to all the perpetrators of violence and make Manipur a peaceful State.
Expressing strong indignation against the threats posed by outsiders against the integrity of Manipur, Akhamlu called upon all the indigenous people to stand united and firm.
AMUCO general secretary Leishangthem Pratap remarked that the unfolding situation in Manipur is quite alarming.
Now some people have started seeing CSOs with suspicion.
It is imperative for all CSOs to focus on winning back the people's trust, and spread their ideas and thoughts to the masses, he said.
In the past, Manipur existed as a single entity.
There were no separate and exclusive territories for Nagas, Kukis, Meitei Pangals or Meiteis.
Moreover, no community claimed any particular territory as their exclusive territory, Pratap said.
After its merger with the Indian Union, Manipur is now facing a very alarming situation.
AMUCO, AMAWOVA, COHR, MSF and PLMPAM will work tirelessly to bring back mutual trust and harmony among all the communities and to build a united Manipur, the AMUCO general secretary asserted.
Categorically saying that disintegration of Manipur will never be allowed under any circumstances, he called upon all the communities to stand firm and strong for a united Manipur.
AMUCO vice-president Ksh Rajen Meetei, PLMPAM general secretary Th Apabi, COHR chairman Phulindro Konsam, AMUCO advisor Ito Tongbram, AMAWOVA advisor Usharani Chongtham, PLMPAM president Soraisam Memcha too spoke at the protest demonstration.
