Kangpokpi, March 05 2025:
In a resolute declaration, the Village VolunteersEastern Zone have issued a strong warning against any attempts to enter Kuki-Zo areas without first addressing the long-standing demand for a Separate Administration/Union Terri- tory with a legislature for the Kuki-Zo people.
The statement comes in direct response to the Federation of Civil Society Organizations (FOCS) announcing its plan "to march toward the hill districts" on March 8 .
It is worth mentioning that yesterday FOCS shared its plan to take out peace rallies that will reach all vulnerable villages which have been kept off limits to civilians by security forces from March 8 .
In a statement, the Village Volunteers made it clear that there will be no free movement in Kuki-Zo territories until a separate governing structure is established.
The Village Volunteers asserted that the suffering of the Kuki-Zo people cannot be disregarded under the "guise of peace marches".
It has urged all relevant authorities to acknowledge the grievances and demands of the Kuki-Zo people.
Most notably, the Village Volunteers cautioned that any individual or organization attempting to negotiate or reconcile with "perpetrators through the Govt" before the establishment of a Separate Administration/UT will face severe consequences.
Reaffirming their stand, the Village Volunteers made it clear that any attempt to violate their territorial rights or forcibly entering Kuki-Zo areas will be met with strong resistance.
