A combined team of Imphal West district police commandos and troops of 22 Assam Rifles arrested three KCP (MC) cadres with a cash of Rs 80, 000, 40 kg of explosive material, 40 metre of safety wire and three mobile handsets from Lala Bazar, Halakandi on September 30 .
A press release issued by Imphal West Senior SP said that the trio were arrested on conducting a raid after getting a specific information about their presence in the area.
The three cadres have been identified as s/s Capt Oinam Suranjoy alias Sanjoy alias Joy alias Piba s/o Kokngang of Yumnam Khunou under Bishnupur district, s/s 2nd Lt Hiyam Sarat Singh alias Chaohei s/o H Sanahal Singh of Yairipok Yambem Mayai Leikai under Imphal East district and s/s Lt Oinam Ibochouba alias Ranjit alias Pukchao alias Khoiraba Singh s/o Irabot of Ningthoukhong Awang Leikai under Bishnupur district.
In another incident, Thoubal district police commandos nabbed one active member of UNLF from Samram Lamkhai yesterday.
The cadre has been identified as Ningombam Kokin alias Lambu (26) (Army No 2356) s/o Basanta of Khongjom Chingtham.
In yet another incident, troops of Red Shield Division and Assam Rifles have reportedly arrested two PREPAK and one KYKL activist from differently places today.
According to a PIB (DW) release, a joint team of 16 Maratha LI and 33 Assam Rifles of Red Shield Division apprehended S/S Pvt K Inao alias Arappa (32) s/o K Tomba of Moirang Kunjangbam and Ningthoujam Mangee Singh (35) s/o Rajbabu Singh of Ithai Bazar of the PREPAK outfit, and KYKL's Moirangthem Robin Singh (35) s/o M Nomal Singh of Wangoo Mamang Leikai.
All three, handed over to Moirang police station, have reportedly revealed of involvement in extortion and tax collection of their respective outfits.
Meanwhile, an overground worker of the proscribed PREPAK group has been arrested by troops of 15 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector from Wangkhem area, where a search operation was launched, in the early hours today, based on information about presence of UG cadres.
A PRO IGAR (S) release identified the arrested person as Md Gaffar (34) s/o (L) Hazi Kazi of Wangkhem.
The captive has reportedly been handed over to Thoubal police station.
