SAHILCA tenders apology to UNC

Imphal, June 02 2025: On behalf of Leilon Vaiphei villagers, the Sadar Hills Chief Association (SAHILCA) has tendered an apology to the United Naga Council (UNC) for physical assault/attacks on Konsakhul villagers including the village chief, secretary, Pastor and others on April 5, 2025 .

SAHILCA and UNC held a joint meeting at the latter's office at Senapati today where both the parties expressed concerns on the unfolding situation arising out of the physical assault of Konsakhul villagers.

SAHILCA, taking full moral responsibility for the particular incident, expressed regret and tendered a formal apology on behalf of Leilon Vaiphei villagers to the UNC for the actions committed by the Leilon Vaiphei villagers.

SAHILCA also agreed to fulfil the Naga customary ritual and indemnify the victims for their medical expenses with a lump sum amount of Rs one lakh within one week.

According to the proceedings of the meeting jointly signed by UNC working committee convenor Samson Remei, UNC working committee member secretary AC Thotso, SAHILCA president Haokhulal Kipgen and SAHILCA working president Lunthang Haokip, both the parties agreed to work earnestly for permanent settlement of land dispute between Konsakhul village and Leilon Vaipheis, involving the villages concerned, its community leaders, SAHILCA and JTC as per the tribal customary law under the UNC working committee.
