Imphal, October 01 2025: Several student bodies have reiterated their appeal to the Government against deployment of security forces in educational institutions and student hostels in the future.

This appeal came after paramilitary forces were withdrawn from the Tribal Girls' Hostel at Old Lambulane, Imphal.

Deployment of security forces in educational institutions affects and disturbs the academic atmosphere.

All schools, colleges, universities and student hostels must be allowed to thrive in an environment that is free from all kinds of disturbances, said six major student bodies in a statement.

For years, the student community had been urging the Government to remove security forces from campuses of educational institutions and student hostels.

Despite this appeal, security forces were deployed and stationed in schools, colleges and universities, adversely affecting the academic atmosphere, said the student bodies.

Considering the importance of preserving and promoting a healthy academic environment, and to make education free from all kinds of disturbances, the Government must never deploy or station security forces in educational institutions in the future, the student bodies said.

The student bodies include the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA), Students' Union Kangleipak (SUK) and Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS).

Meanwhile, the Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM) has appreciated the Government for withdrawing paramilitary forces from the Tribal Girls' Hostel at Old Lambulane, Imphal.

In a statement issued today, the TYCM appealed to the Tribal Affairs Department to resume normal functioning of the Tribal Girls' Hostel and facilitate the stay of tribal girl students in the hostel at the earliest.

The Council expressed hopes that the Government will promptly address its grievances and demands in the future.

The TYCM-CHQ also appreciated the Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation, Manipur (RNSOM), Zeme Students' Organisation, Manipur (ZSOM), and All Inpui Students' Union (AISU) for their support in appealing to the Government to withdraw the paramilitary force from the Tribal Girls' Hostel.
